Dead Comp

So yeah right now my laptop is at the shop. I'm waiting to upload pics cus I don't want to leave them on my 'rents comp. Once my comp is up and running I'll be back on and blogging (even though nobody reads this).

Work is going great. Learning a lot and just happy that I'm getting paid to do something I enjoy. That's it for now.

My Degrees Are Going To Keep Me Warm

I just started my new job at SEARHC on Monday. Went to orientation then got a tour of Raven's Way. Was introduced to a bunch of people who's names I forgot. Then was handed an envelope with a bunch of paperwork to read and sign. The next day I pretty much did the same thing just over a longer period of time. Then they pretty much sent me on my way and said good luck.

So here I am on the first night of working graveyard. I don't know who any of the kids are but I'm sure I'll meet them in the morning. Got here an hour early to have Jenny show me how to count meds. Then I hung out with her and Jared while they did some paperwork. It was nice having them here to kind of calm me down a bit, even though they didn't know it. After they left I felt a little scared but luckily the kids were pretty much settled and falling asleep.

Around 1am I started making the french toast...I think I messed it up. I just followed the recipe (minus an ingredient that I couldn't find) but after reading Rach's book it was totally different. We'll see how it goes in a couple hours when I finally cook it. Every now and then I have to go upstairs with a flashlight and make sure the kids are in bed. I feel kind of like a creeper. Off to do some creepin...

I Will Be Both

For the last few weeks I've been working at the grocery store as a cashier. It's been interesting but I don't think I could do it for long. The days go by pretty slow when there's too many people working. It definitely helped to make some money while SEARHC made their decision.

What I get to view for 8 hrs a day for now...

Then a couple days ago I got a call from them saying I got the position! I'm so pumped that I finally got it. I'm also kind of nervous since it's going to be a serious job. I start on Aug 10th and it's about time. Finally, I get to use my degree!

In the mean time I'm gonna have as much fun as I can. Thanks to Abigail and Eli, I now have a good group of friends. Now I don't have to sit at home bored out of my mind! Thanks cousins!

Checker or Counselor...What will I be?

Grocery Store/Raven's Way logos

This photo reminded me of the typical one you would see on those pamphlets that say "Do you need help?" or "Are you feeling depressed?" This is where I would come in to save the day!

Yesterday I finally had my interview at Raven's Way to be a counselor trainee. I left feeling confident that I answered honestly and adequately. There was a board of five members that asked me a series of questions dealing with the position and life in general. At first I was nervous but after a while I calmed down.

This is me as a black man working as a checker. Macking on all the hotties that come in the store. "Would you like your receipt or just my number?"

This morning I had an interview at Lakeside Grocery for the checker position. By the end of the interview I had the job. I never thought I'd be this excited to work at a grocery store. I start tomorrow and can't wait to finally get some income again. I let the boss know that I interviewed for Raven's Way but he was cool with it and seemed to understand. At least this way I have a job no matter what happens. There's also an accounting position at the grocery store that he said I may potentially move up to after some time. Having that on my resume would be awesome since that's actually a good paying job.

Now I'm off to celebrate my last day of freedom in the sun. Later I plan to write about one of the five books I'm reading and the wonderful shows I've been watching.

Transforming like Optimus

From this poster alone you can tell what the best part of the movie was. The fact that Megan Fox is bigger than two of the most important characters in the movie is hilarious. She is definitely hot but when she used her girly voice that just got annoying. I enjoyed this movie so much that I saw it twice. Well actually after the first time seeing it I kind of had a headache from squinting so much to figure out which bot was fighting which. Plus all the complicated talk about bot history went right over my head. The second time around I was able to understand a bit more what they were talking about and enjoy Megan & Shia's physical greatness.

For those who didn't like Transformers 2 you probably had to0 high of expectations. This is a movie based on a cartoon, what can you really expect. Yes the first one was amazing but that's because they hadn't done anything like it yet. With movies like this it's important to go in with the mindset that all you expect is explosions and hot actors. If you expect anything more you're bound to be disappointed. There's rumor of a third movie, can't wait!

AK is my new home

So I made it to Sitka. The trip was very long to get here. First I had to drive more than 900 miles, which took about 16 hrs. Was going to sleep in my car but after 16hrs that was the last place I wanted to be. Spent 113 Canadian dollars to be able to sleep in a bed and take a shower. Next morning I got some food then headed to the ferry.

Got on the ferry and made sure to have plenty of entertainment. They played a movie and the cafeteria was as expensive as getting food on the moon. Set up camp on a lawn chair on the top deck. It was actually pretty warm and comfy for the circumstances. So a day and 6hrs (just on the ferry alone) later I finally make it to Sitka. Of course it was raining... Dad was awake and just talked to him for a bit before crashing.

Right now I've been visiting with the grandparents and Eli. It'll probably be the last week for a very long time that I won't be doing something. I have an interview with SEARHC on monday for the counselor job. I hope I get it!

Talk about a break

Wow so it's been forever since I've posted. Not like anyone's reading this anyways haha. Lots has been happening which I can't even begin to describe on here. I know what's happened and that's all that matters. There's going to be a long break again since I'll be moving to AK!

Movie updates:
Angels & Demons- Pretty good, glad I read the book. Learn alot in a short period of time about history with religion and science. Not as good as Da Vinci Code.

Terminator Salvation- So amazing I saw it twice! I love the old Terminator movies so it wasn't hard for me to get into this movie. Loved the nonstop action and destruction. There was just enough of a plot/story for it to keep your attention in that category.

Star Trek- Not my favorite. I don't really know anything about the past Star Trek movies or shows so it was difficult for me to follow. I felt the dialogue was too much for my brain to handle haha. I liked the visuals and the action scenes, but there were not enough of them from what the commercial showed. Everything that was in the commercials was the best parts of the movie, sooo basically 30 seconds of it? Everyone else liked it so I guess I'll have to see it again.

The Hangover- Exactly what I expected and then some. Tons of ridiculous, unlikely occurences. It reminded me of my Vegas trips only 100x more crazy, I guess I've been going with the wrong people. There were plenty of one liners to keep me laughing and I didn't feel disappointed. Made me pumped to go again.

Hustlin at MAO

As you can see the boys did great in SC and got first place. I had tons of fun coaching them and can't wait to do it again. I was just as nervous as them and I wasn't even playing! The weather was great and they broke the curse. It was totally worth getting work off and spending some money to go. Next event is in Chicago and I hope I can make it. That's all for now!

Puerto Vallarta doesn't have the flu

It was my parent's 20th anniversary recently and they decided to celebrate by going on a trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Surprisingly they invited me along for a week! I had the best time ever and totally want to live there. It's warm, there's beaches, i can speak the language, and it's cheap.

The zip-line was super fun and a total adrenaline rush for me. It was hosted at the Predator film set. It's definitely worth the cost for such a great experience. Later Rachael and I did parasailing from the beach. That was scarier to me since there was no safety instruction and you're just floating more than 100ft above the water. All I could think was if I fall I will break alot of bones and was trying to figure out the best way to land. It was cool but probably wouldn't do it again, just because it was expensive and I didn't get any instruction.

The food is also amazing there. Everything was made fresh and tasted amazing. I got a couple margaritas over the week, which were pretty strong but typical of what I get in the US. Coronas tasted the same to me as well (heard they tasted different there).

I can't wait to go back! I'm hoping to go before the end of the year and get a group together. I love being out in the sun and having fun. Love the tan I got too, hope it lasts!

Pepper & Pennywise

On Monday me, Keegan, and Novak went to the Pepper & Pennywise concert. It was aaaamazing. We got there mid-Pennywise so the energy was crazy. We decided to make our way to the center of the mosh pit take part in getting bruised up. It was so hot being squashed in like sardines, could barely breath. After they were done we decided it was time for a break.

We wanted to get back to where the action was before Pepper started. On our way back to the center we came upon this cat fight which we all suddenly became involved in when a guy punched a girl in the face. I was like hellllll naw and jumped in there and was pulling people off each other. Novak stopped the guy from further hitting the chick. Then the chick ends up swinging her arm past my head and apparently had her arm around my neck, when Keegan was like no way bitch! He pushed the chick off me and almost got punched by her. My adrenaline was pumping so much that I almost punched the chick but decided to just push her instead since we were supposed to be stopping the fight not starting or continuing one.

So the fight finally broke up which allowed us to get up close since people were all glad that we stopped it. Then suddenly while we were waiting for Pepper to get on we see this guy with a HUGE pimple growth thing on his back. Mind you he's wearing a tank top and this thing is right at my face level. I was like F this I'm out of here I'm not going to get my face slammed into that. After taking a pic of it and almost throwing up, we make our way to the other side. Finally, Pepper came on and they were HOT!

After a while we couldnt breath, stand, or enjoy the show so we decided to head to the back. Keegan had taken an elbow to the temple and figured he'd had a enough. My whole body felt like it had been tackled by several football players but I stuck it out and enjoyed Pepper. The best part was they didn't have shirts on so you could see their super muscles glistening! YAY! Haha thank you god for making such wonderful men. They seemed so dirty and funny, definitely guys I'd hang with. I can't wait til they come again, I will def be there.

James Bond Cocktail Party

We had our first house warming party on Easter. The theme was James Bond Cocktail Party, so everyone had to dress up. The turnout was amazing! There had to be about 30 or more people throughout the night. Dancing, Guitar hero, beer pong, survivor, and having tons of fun. there was so much drama it was great. Luckily, I wasn't involved in any of it so I got to be an entertained bystander.

Stars Wars Monopoly & ComiCon

Saturday a couple of the paintball guys came over for Star Wars monopoly. We caught some video and picture footage of the wreckage. I think I was the only one drunk by the end of the game. Unfortunately the game couldn't go on for long since the boys had practice the next day. But we still had a great time.

On Sunday I went to the ComiCon in Seattle with Casey. It was awesome, totally worth $15. There were sooo many comic books to choose from I didn't know where to begin. We got some great deals though. They were selling 4 for $1 so I ended up leaving with more than 10 comic books. We also listened to panels of the Battle Star Galatica actors, Marvel Comics writers, and webcomic business strategies. Learned so much about that whole comic world. Got painted up like a zombie and took pics at one of the booths. (Pics of Casey and I as zombies will be posted later). The art work that I saw was amazing, made me really appreciate the hard work these people put into making the comics.

Ratatat the CobraSnake

So I bought this CobraSnake T the other day on ebay and can't stop wearing it. I wore it the other day with my dip-dyed jeans and totally felt like Cory Kennedy haha. Btw I don't know how people can wear skinny jeans, my ankles felt like they were being squeezed to death.

Went to Loren's paintball event in Canada yesterday, which they won! I think the Canadians hate us a bit more now since we ruled them in their own country. Ran into Frenchy, Nico, and Fraser which was cool since it's been forever since we've seen them. We're gonna get wings with them this saturday. The OB changed the day of the special so now we can go!

After the event we came home and got ready for the concert. Got there waaaay too early and had to sit around. The opening band was a little interesting, they looked like they were having a blast though. Then some rapper dude from NY came on and seemed too drunk to be doing a concert. Ran into Jason Radke and caught up on the last 5 yrs in like 20 min. He looked exactly the same and was super chill. Ratatat finally came on around 11 or so (doors opened at 8). At first Loren and I were on the side near the front but I wanted to go mosh and dance like a fool in the middle. Loren headed to the bar and I headed to the sweaty, dancing people. Let's just say the concert was very reminiscent of Girl Talk. I still had a blast dancing and letting go to the really loud music.

Moving to Stanwood

So first we had to load all of our crap into a huuuge truck. It took most of the day and reestablished the fact that I'm a wimp (at lifting heavy objects). Loren and I tried not to kill each other. Gravez finally arrived to save the day and move huge stuff. There's still a few more things left to get but almost done! Then we got to Stanwood and it was getting dark so we decided to go get some food at Amigos. It's the new El Git, but not nearly as good. Their jumbo margaritas definitely hit the spot though. After dinner we got back home and unloaded our stuff, which was way faster.

This is a web pic of our house! Today I unpacked and organized stuff around the house. Things are starting to fall into place and feel more like our own house. Also went grocery shopping which helps since we can eat here too! Now I have to go back to Bham to load up more stuff and start cleaning. Can't wait to jump into my sunken tub tonight!

Men Watch the New Moon

I finished New Moon last night, finally! It took me soooo long, compared to Twilight. It was definitely slower and seemed to take a while to get to the good stuff. It was almost a waste of a book, but I guess you got to introduce werewolves some how. I also liked how she described the pain of the one you love leaving you. Intense. But it was such a relief to finally be able to move on.

Now I'm reading Watchmen. After seeing the movie I wanted to get the full experience and get more background info. So far the movie has been pretty accurate with details and scenery. Alan Moore, the writer, is so cryptic with his writing that you have to reread things a couple times. That's why the movie seemed so dense, kind of like the Matrix. But I'm excited that I'll have read a popular comic book by the time I go to the Seattle ComiCon.

Yesterday, I made some dip-dye jeans with grey dye. I used too much dye and soaked the bottoms too long, I think. So they fade from white on top to grey in the middle and almost black on bottom. For $15 total they still look pretty BA. The Akdmk dip-dye jeans cost $65, so my DIY project was definitely worth it. I'm thinking I could also dye some cheap white jeans whatever color I want instead of spending $50 on some colored jeans.

Sometimes you need to be reminded

So today I watched both Napoleon Dynamite and Mean Girls. I forgot how great they are! It's funny to me that I can relate to both of them, even though they're so different from each other. Anyways getting on to the flippin sweet stuff, I went out shopping with Natalie today. She's having her birthday party this weekend and it's Bond Girl themed. I had an idea set out but decided to go look for a cute cocktail dress anyways. We went to Buffalo Exchange and I found this awesome shiny purple dress ($14) and some sweet clear, white rimmed glasses (just cus they were cool $9). Then we headed over to Value Village, which sadly didn't have what i was looking for. After that made our way to Ross, where i got some sick white jeans for only $10 and a hippie tank for $5.

I was also trying to fast today since Skinny Bitch recommends doing it every now and then. I did the easier kind of fasting where you have smoothies and soup. But unfortunately it still wasnt easy enough for me, i broke down and ate lol. I don't know how anorexics do it! I'll try again sometime later, it takes a lot of will but the cleansing it does to your body is worth it. As Regina George would say, "I'm trying to lose 5lbs."
